On the afternoon of November 24, 2021, the signing ceremony of the joint lab of Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University - Shanghai NewMed Medical for medical polymer materials and medical device technology, was held at Zhejiang University International Union College (Haining International Campus).

Hongwei Ouyang, President of International Union College, Qifeng Yu, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Shanghai NewMed Medical Co., Ltd., Zhongfei Lv, Standing Committee Member and Organization Minister of Haining Municipal Committee, Hanying Li, Head of Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Renkong Lou, Secretary of Party Committee of the Department, Yu Weng, Director of Development and Technology Transfer Division of Zhejiang University Research Institute, Changyou Gao, Jian Ji and Yihu Song, teachers of Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Chief Operating Officer of NewMed Medical Tao Qin, Vice President of Project Management and Business Development Xiayan Yang, and Chief Financial Officer Xiaoxu Jiang, attended the signing and inauguration ceremony.

The joint lab of Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University - Shanghai NewMed Medical for medical polymer materials and medical device technology will rely on the International Research Center of Functional Polymer of International Campus to carry out research and development in the field of medical polymer materials and innovative medical devices of medical polymer materials.

At the meeting, Hongwei Ouyang, Zhongfei Lv, Hanying Li, Qifeng Yu and Yu Weng congratulated the establishment of the joint lab on behalf of the International Campus, Haining Municipality, the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Shanghai NewMed Medical Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang University Research Institute, hoping that the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering and NewMed Medical will give full play to their respective advantages to improve their ability of independent innovation in medical polymer materials as well as industrialization, clinical transformation and application of scientific research results. Joint lab director Changyou Gao made a statement and said that the joint lab should seek application in innovation, seek innovation in application, and solve the core scientific and technical problems of medical polymer materials for industrial needs.

At the ceremony, Professor Changyou Gao and Qifeng Yu signed a cooperation agreement regarding the joint lab and unveiled the joint lab together with Xiayan Yang, Vice President of Project Management and Business Development of Shanghai NewMed Medical Co., Ltd. Hanying Li and Yu Weng provided appointment letters to the members and leadership team of the Joint Lab Management Committee.

Heads and experts from the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Research Institute and Biomedical Macromolecule Research Institute of Zhejiang University, as well as Shanghai NewMed Medical Co., Ltd., Haining Municipality and Juanhu Science and Technology Town, as well as representative teachers and students of the joint lab attended the ceremony.
